Program Governance and managing program risks
A large infrastructure company was involved in executing huge contracts with government and felt they were facing challenges that resulted in schedule and cost overruns, embarrassments due to unaddressed risk etc. BKM spent time with many program managers and gathered inputs on the specific challenges and the situations. These were used in the design of the workshop. The offsite workshop was conducted for three days that covered aspects like defining program benefits, program governance models, planning, executing & monitoring of progress, managing exceptions, dealing with key stake holders, and defining – tracking-managing risks. The workshop covered very practical tips, tools and templates that could be used in the ongoing programs.
3
Building a cross cultural team
It is a mid-size steel manufacturing company. It had entered into a collaboration with a Chinese company and the teams were working from both India and in China. The company faced challenges in the operational aspects – specifically in inter-team working. This caused not only quality issues but also several others. Customized topics like cultural understanding and alignment, responsibility, accountability, networking, empathy, communication, performance reporting, and conflict management were covered in the two-day workshop. The Chinese team also was present. All the concerned were trained in two batches. The company subsequently reported a significant improvement in the working of cross-cultural teams.
2
Managerial Effectiveness
A leading Bank, as part of its learning and development (L&D) program for the Branch Managers and heads of functions, wanted a workshop on Managerial Effectiveness. The content of the program was designed after taking inputs from the L&D department of the bank to include topics like Setting Goals, Managing Performance, Building Teams, Managing Change, Resolving Conflicts and other aspects of managerial effectiveness. The two day offsite workshop concluded with individual action planning exercise.

Enabling Knowledge Management (KM) System
A State-owned power Transmission Corporation wanted its senior officers to institutionalize the specialist knowledge gained over decades in power transmission. It desired the officers to be well versed in Knowledge management so that they could not only codify and store the knowledge assets but also use them effectively for increased competitiveness. BKMS worked with the management and other stakeholders located across different offices and put together a program targeted at senior level and middle levels. The workshop involved creating awareness of KM, its processes, strategies to effectively build a KM system, etc. The three-day workshops were conducted in batches across several locations to cover the entire organization. Follow up workshops were planned to ascertain implementation and review progress.
